Welcome to The BrotherĀ Report, an alternative view of today’s Black Athletes in America. I’m not looking to change the game, only to level the playing field.
As I have said all over this nation and all over the world, the wrong guy is on trial here. Bud Selig and those who run baseball are responsible for the Steroids era. Typical of American thought on anything, we go after the symptoms and not the root causes. We want to kill Frankenstein and not Dr. Frankenstein, the dude who created him in the first place. It’s just like we call the Palestinians terrorists because they stand up against Israeli oppression without understanding why they are upset.
Baseball turned a blind eye to steroids use and had no rules, no enforcement procedures or no official policy outlawing its use. They had to know. All these teams have team doctors and medical staffs. You means to tell me they couldn’t see with their trained eyes that something was unsusual about their players. Didn’t we all see the death of Lyle Alzado…Brian Jordan told me in an interview last season that when he was playing football and playing baseball, he saw little guys bulking up and hitting homeruns. He saw it, you mean a doctor or trainer didn’t see. Sheeeeit.
Ron–I admire what you’re doing because I gotta fire up my blog again. There’s needs to be an element of brothers in journalism that’s not afraid to challenge the establishment Black journalists who are apologists for their white colleagues. Keep fighting, dude.
