Bonds vs. Aaron.

Once again the media playing one brutha against another and loving it. If you’ve been paying any attention to Barry Bonds’ pursuit of Hank Aaron’s home run record, notice how the media has fallen in love with Aaron for the first time. Yes, the same Hank Aaron that many still don’t recognize as baseball’s home run king, that was evident when Bonds passed Babe Ruth many proclaimed that Ruth will ALWAYS be baseball’s home run king.

Many of these writers have seen the same clips of Ruth that you and I have. He is as much a fable to me as the tooth fairy or Paul Bunyan, and besides, playing during a colorless era in sports doesn’t provide much credibility to any record set back in those days.

Their sheer hatred of Bond’s has allowed them to now embrace Aaron who hasn’t seen this much publicity since hitting #715. These adulations come across as hollow, if it were Mark McGwire closing in on #755 Aaron would not be on the cover of Sports Illustrated or being asked if he would attend any of the potential record-breaking games.

Bonds more than likely at some point may have used steroids, and that is sad for baseball and for sports. What’s worse is placing Aaron into an uncomfortable seat that should be reserved for Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig.

Much to Aaron’s credit he has not spoken out in any negative way towards Bonds, and he hasn’t snuggled up too close to Selig either.

It’s really sad to see Hank Aaron get all this praise now. The media knows what they’re doing. When they praise someone, they also have to put someone down. Check out my site at http://alltalksports.wordpress.com/. Help a brutha out.
